  RUNNING HEAD: Communication and Crisis paper    Communication and Crisis Paper  University of Phoenix  HCS/320  August 6, 2012    According to this Scenario:  In 1979, the Three Mile Island nuclear reactor malfunctioned, releasing radiation into the environment. There were no immediate deaths or injuries resulting from the incident; however, the accident drew much media attention and created concerns in the local area and beyond. The major forms of communication used to report these events were the three major television networks and local radio stations.   In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area and immersed a significant part of the city in water. Local citizens and their families were affected. The U.S. ARMY can be brought in to test the water in their medical testing facility.   ââ¬Å"Since the 1980s, terrorist organizations have become users of biological agents.â⬠ ââ¬Å"Biological weapons include any organism or toxin found in nature that can be used to incapacitate, kill, or otherwise impede an adversary. Biological weapons are characterized by low visibility, high potency, substantial accessibility, and relatively easy delivery.â⬠  (Dire amp;Darling, 2011) ââ¬Å"Emergency response strategies for biological, chemical, nuclear, or radiological terrorist events should be based on scientifically established exposure limits for all the agents or materials involved. In the case of a radiological terrorist event, emergency response guidelines have been worked out.
