Sometimes employee relation does not live to the expectations in such a way that the problems that should be solved by it are still roaming within the organization. The division is supposed to monitor workplace challenges before the union does and solve them before they become a nuisance to the organization. Therefore any failure to tackle means unnecessary costs have been incurred by the banks. Single employer bargaining can be expensive because of the need to maintain a centralized employee relation. For single employer bargaining, there is inflexibility and makes it hard to accommodate difference in production systems, the service markets, labor market and technologies within centralized bargaining systems. It could also be hard to integrate new businesses within employee relation systems. For employee relation to be effective it requires very effective communication in company. The level of management decision making will increase if the employee relationship management work independently as a result reducing the employee commitment to these decision and local management. As this is a bargaining that occurs between the management and union representatives, there are high chances of increasing the danger of wage parity by the unions. New venture have realized due to globalization for instance the transfer of banking technology to Tanzania form abroad is one factor that globalization has inspired banking industry to progress. On the other hand, the coming of technology would raise concerns over employee job security. The aim of banks to bring new technology is sometimes to cut down cost in the long-run, so this will obviously raise concerns towards employee who fear for their job. The essay went further to look on the recognition of unions in Tanzania banks and we realized that in Tanzania they very less banks that can be influenced by trade union since many of them are privately owned. The only trade union that employee relations have been able to interact with is Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) where bank such as Tanzania postal bank employee can real much on TUCTA. The impact of trade unions in banking industry profitability is very high. So banks should come with approaches that would manage the unions in a way that they do not impact negatively on the performance of the organization. We have look on approaches such as Unitarist, pluralist, Marxist and adversarial approach. It is also indicated that employee relation should much be governed by agreements, rules and regulation to handle unions. As we have realized that not only external factor that are important to organization success but also internal constraint are also crucial to the companies and therefore they should be managed very well using appropriate management styles. It seemingly appears that privately owned banks use authoritarian way of managing to handle internal issues affecting the banks. Other management styles include opportunist and Paternalistic. Recommendation This is very important aspect of business and especially in banking industry. Banks should consider taking employee relations very seriously as employees are part and parcel of the organization success or failure. New innovative ideas should be brought forward so that business process and practice could be made simple thus improving organization performance. Employee relationship management in collaboration with human resource they should come up with ways that will resolve dispute in more modern way even without involvement of trade unions. The management should assess employee relation future trend and research on the potential findings that can be applied in third world countries e.g. Tanzania. The influence of technology should not be left untouched as technology will play a big part in the future employee relation success. The employee relation view should be much flexible to tackle issues that have not been resolved yet with management. Employee relation should help in avoiding unnecessary problems such poor working condition. These are problems that union is working to abolish them but on the other hand they problems that increase unnecessary cost than if they had been tackled beforehand. Employer should engage employee in activities or even during decision making process so that they can be more motivate and very loyal to the org anization this should incorporate they payment structure and other compensation packages which seem to be the most coveted things by employees.

A Commentary on the Geranium by Theodore Roethke Essay
The poem ââ¬Å"The Geraniumâ⬠by Theodore Roethke tells the story of a bachelor, formerly a party animal, now a lonely, aging man, through a sustained metaphor which uses the speakerââ¬â¢s geranium as a symbol for the disregard of his own health. The plant is never well, nor is he, due to the speaker being as inconsiderate to the geranium as he is to himself. With imagery, alliteration, and symbolism, much is learned about the speaker through a simple geranium to which he is intrinsically intertwined. We can see right from the beginning with lines such as ââ¬Å"limp and bedraggled . . . / . . . like a sick poodle / Or a wizened aster in late September,â⬠(2-4) that our speaker does not think very highly of himself nor his geranium. The descriptors give a pathetic, aging feel; the comparison to a ââ¬Å"wizened asterâ⬠is particularly potent. It suggest that like the flower, the speaker is no longer ââ¬Å"in bloomâ⬠, so-to-speak. That his colour has faded, and he is past his prime. The themes of aging and entering a new life stage come up again in line 6: ââ¬Å"For a new routine ââ¬ââ⬠. The caesura brings the reader to a halt; its sudden and final nature is reminiscent of an ending. The words in the line itself indicate a new beginning, which creates an interesting effect. This line could be representative of the end of the speakerââ¬â¢s youth and bachelorhood, as well as the beginning of a new point in his life. The act of taking the geranium out to the trash could also be symbolic of changing life stages; placing it by the trash could be representative of the end of one cycle, and bringing it back could represent starting anew. In following with the idea of starting anew, our speaker shows plans of lifestyle change; he plans to change for the better and agrees that ââ¬Å"Sustenance seemed sensibleâ⬠(8) The alliteration here evokes a childlike, somewhat self-deprecating feel, as though the speaker is chiding himself for not remembering something that seemed so simple. The fact that the speaker managed to forget this in the first place could also indicate that he has let his health go in the past, which is further evidenced near the end of the stanza, where the speaker talks about living ââ¬Å". . . on gin, bobbie pins, half-smoked cigars, dead beerâ⬠(10) as well as the consequences of such irresponsible actions; he talks of being ââ¬Å"shriveledâ⬠and ââ¬Å"dried outâ⬠. Itââ¬â¢s clear both the speaker and his plant have suffered from such a way of living. It also seems to reveal the careless and somewhat incompetent nature of the speaker. After all, if you canââ¬â¢t even take care of a plant, how can you take care of yourself? In the next stanza we get another glance into our speakerââ¬â¢s former life. He talks of ââ¬Å" . . .dumb dames shrieking half the nightâ⬠(16) as well as more mention of alcohol. The pieces of the speakerââ¬â¢s past we have received thus far can be put together to form the image of a reckless bachelor who gives no thought of tomorrow. With the current events of the poem, we can see how this lifestyle doesnââ¬â¢t do much for our speaker now that tomorrow is here. In this stanza we also get to hear the narrator describe himself directly for the first time, but he still ties himself to the plant, showcasing how heavily interconnected he and the geranium are. The speaker says that they are both ââ¬Å"seedyâ⬠, which is a rather interesting play on words due to the fact that it means sordid or shabby, or could be used in the context of plant seeds. The term acknowledges both the similarities and differences between the speaker and the geranium. In the third stanza and final two lines, the speakerââ¬â¢s maid tosses the geranium in the trash which angers him so much he fires her. The actions of the maid would obviously hurt our speaker, seeing as the miserable, wilted geranium was his only friend. There is also the possibility that it was the cause of the actions of the maid that really wounded the narrator; that is was the fact that the maid saw something so analogous to himself as useless trash that drove him into enough of a rage to sack his maid. Thus the poem ends with the speaker no better off than he was in the beginning; perhaps even worse, now that the maid has brought to light how worthless the speakerââ¬â¢s life really is. Even though plants and people are seen as self-sufficient organisms, ââ¬Å"The Geraniumâ⬠highlights that in order to truly blossom, care, compassion and companionship from another are required. Theodore Roethkeââ¬â¢s use of dreary, aged language and bland settings create a desolate atmosphere which provides the framework for the tale of a man who seems to have disregarded this until it was too late.

Principles are important in any organization and an employee needs to feel important and motivated to come to work. These are a few of the principles that Alan Mulally have implemented since 2006: Stand for something beyond profit. Rally your employees around a shared mission. Practice a realistic optimism. Tell the truth without fear (Schwartz, 2010). The turnaround at Ford Motor Company was not overnight. He invested in the vision ââ¬Å"One Fordâ⬠which has the idea of creating vehicles that will appeal to both American and European consumers by utilizing a common design theme that would move beyond the three-bar infatuation of the United States (Lavrinc, 2007). The transformation of the American icon was due to the One Ford vision and one year after 2008, Ford Motor Company reported a profit of $2. 7 billion. This transformation would not have happened if Alan Mulally did not take over in 2006. The ethical behavior by Ford Motor Companyââ¬â¢s Chief Executive Officer has shown to be a true testament to future CEOââ¬â¢s in the global market. When the company raised $23. 5 billion to finance the restructuring and accelerate the investment in new products it shows great leadership during the Great Recession (Bartiromo, 2011). This American icon is 110 years old and recently had the strongest third quarter profit in history in 2012. This would not have happened without Alan Mulally reducing the brands of Aston Martin, Jaguar, Mazda, Land Rover, and Volvo into the two main components that a person would vision on the road today Ford and Lincoln. The leadership is beyond extraordinary and models like the Ford Focus is now one of the countryââ¬â¢s best selling cars (Schwartz, 2010). The business environment is multifaceted with enormous challenges that face the global market. By focusing attention on a vision, the leader operates on the emotional and spiritual resources of the organization, on its values, commitment, and aspirations. The manager, by contrast, operates on the physical resources of the organization, on its capital, human skills, raw materials, and technology. The results that an individual observes currently are in direct correlation of the actions over the last five years. Ford has now paid back the $23. 5 billion that was taken out in 2006 to finance the restructuring and investment of new products. The company has started to hire and bring jobs back to the United States. According to Schwartz (2010), ââ¬Å"Mulally is taking an old-school industrial company and turning it into a model of how modern company ought to be runâ⬠(para. 3). Besides this she sold her story's manuscript to the Mitchell Library for $5,000, apart from this, she sold her photographs of mountain climbing for $2,000. The issue is whether all these three payments received by she are considered as income from personal exertion or not and in the case of she wrote her story for her satisfaction and then decide to sell it then what will be the tax consequ ences. Rule According to the Australian Taxation Act, income tax is one of the significant tax, which levies to the residents of the country according to their annual income. The application of income tax can differ by the nature of the income. As per the Income tax Act 1936 along with its amendment of 1997 personal exertion income include the income from salaries and wages, bonuses and commissions, fees, superannuation allowance, pension, retiring gratuities and retiring allowance (Woellner et al., 2016). Application The application of the rule determines the income generated from the activities must be under the taxation law. Here in this particular case, it is observed that Hillary is not a full-time writer and writing was not her original profession. She wrote the story as the Daily Terror Newspaper pleads to her to write her story for them. Thus the income cannot be considered as income tax. The manuscript and her photographs are falls under capital gain tax (Yu, 2008). And in first case, her income from Daily Terror will be considered as ordinary income. Conclusion The income from Daily Terror and manuscript along with photographs all would be considered as capital gain income. In the case of she wrote her story for her satisfaction. As per the income tax act 1997, and section 26 AB,in the first case, of the case study will be assessable income. And rest of income may be considered as capital gain tax under section 1108-410. 2. Issue In this case, the client is a mother who had lent her son an amount of $40,000 to help him with a short term housing loan. A verbal agreement was made between the mother and the son where it was agreed that the son would pay his mother an amount of $50,000 after five years. It should be noted that while giving the money there was no written agreement between the two parties and the son was also not asked to pay any security against the amount of money being borrowed by him. After two years the son returned the full amount of money to his mother along with an interest of 5 percent per annum on the amount of money borrowed by him. The whole amount of money was given to the client in a single check. The mother had not asked for any interest but still the son paid it. The question that comes in the scenario is the effect that the extra amount given by the son will have on the income of the client. Rule As per the Australian Taxation Law, assessable income of an individual is defined as the amount of money earned by that person, which can be taxed when the money earned by the individual is more than the tax-free threshold granted by the Australian Constitution (Mason, 2010). Assessable income of a person consists of salary, wages received by a person for the work done by him or her; dividends and incomes earned as a part of investments made, etc. (Parsons, 2011). Application In this particular case, the loan given by the mother to her son cannot be considered as an investment as she did not want any interest on that. Therefore it is not an ordinary income of the client and not assessable. Moreover, the amount of interest paid by the sum is equal to 5 percent of $40,000 for two years which equivalates to a sum of $4,000. Now this amount of money is less than the threshold of assessable income as indicated by the Australian Taxation Office (Woellner, 2013). Therefore considering these two conditions the amount received by the mother will not be a part of her assessable income. Conclusion The extra amount of money given by the son to his mother is not an ordinary income of the client and also does not cross the threshold of assessable income. This is the reason why the sum of money will not have any effect on the assessable income of the client under section 10-1. 3. a) According to the case study, it is observed that the accounting professional Scott had purchased a vacant block of land in Brisbane in October 1980. At the time of building the house, the value of the land stands at $90,000 as well as the construction cost is $60,000. After the completion of the house, he rented the property and as per the consideration of the current taxation, the Scott sold the property for $800,000 at auction. As Scott holds the profession of an accountant, he is seemed to be not involved in the development of the property (Robertson, 2008). Thus the income generated is seemed to be in the form of the ordinary income as per the law of taxation of ATO 1936 which must be considered as the capital gain and the deduction of tax should not take place in the form of capital gain tax. According to Australian Taxation Law, income generated from the sale of the assets is considered as the capital gain under section 408. The person or the organization has to pay tax on the gains derived from the sale of the asset. The property would be considered as long term capital as it is purchased before three years. The capital gain tax was introduced in the year 1985, and thus transactions before 1980 should not apply to capital gain tax (Barker, 2005). In the given case study, Scott purchased vacant land as on October 1980, and the land value was $90,000, and construction cost was $60,000. The total value of the property was $150,000. The property after building houses was given to rent and income generated from rent would be considered as ordinary income. The property was sold at auction for an amount of $80,000s. Therefore, net earnings of Scott were $650,000, and it would be considered as assessable income. The capital gain tax would be calculated on $650,000 as per the Au stralian Taxation Law (Watson, Gleeson and Higgins, 2013). Total value of the property = (Value of the land $90,000+ construction cost $60,000) = $150,000. The property sold for $ 800,000 Thus, Total Capital gain = ($ 800,000-$150,000) = $650,000 and it is assessable income. b) In the given case study, Scott purchased a vacant land as on October 1st, 1980. In the year 1986, the value of the land was $90,000 and building cost was $60,000. The house was sold by Scott and capital gain tax was applicable on the sold amount. The capital gain is the amount of money earned by an individual from the selling of an asset. Capital gain tax is the tax charged on the income generated from the sale of the assets. Capital assets include land, building, machinery, patents, trademarks, property, etc. In the given case study, Scott would sell the property to his daughter at $2, 00,000. The capital gain tax would not be calculated on the selling price of the property because the capital gain tax is not applicable when a property is being inherited (Woellner, 2013). According to Australian taxation law, the property will be considered as a gift that would be exempted from capital gain tax. Therefore, the capital gain tax will not be calculated, and the asset would be considere d as a gift. c) If the owner of the property is the company rather than an individual, then the answer world a bit different which seemed to be directly dependent on the type of the company discussed. In this case study of the ordinary company, the property would be looked upon as the capital asset, and therefore the capital gain taxes are applied (Loffman, Presant and Rubin, 2008). The capital gain taxes will also be implemented on the individual if the case of the individual is considered. If the company is considered as the real estate company dealing with the selling and buying of the houses and the properties, then the company would not be charged with the capital gain taxes (WALLER, 2007). The reason for this is the in any real estate company, the selling and buying of the properties are the part of the ordinary income, and since it is ordinary income, then the tax would fall under the normal income tax.
